bedbugAlthough referred to as “bed bugs,” these tiny insects tend to make their nest in places with cracks and crevices, hiding in wood trim or behind wallpaper and picture frames. Bed bugs are parasites that feed on warm-blooded animals, including humans, and are frequently found in mattresses, box springs and bed frames, hence the name. They are usually carried into a home or business, catching a ride in luggage, backpacks, or boxes.

They typically come out a night to feed and you should not wait take care of the issue. Putting off bed bug control can lead to further infestation and expansion into the rest of your home or business. Bed bugs were an almost non-existent problem in St. Louis only a short time ago, but their recent comeback has resulted in insects that are more resistant to common pesticides and other chemical methods of removal. This turn of events, combined with the fact that they feed on blood which means that they don’t ingest most insect baits, makes it nearly impossible to rely on do-it-yourself solutions.

Our Approach:

Cogent provides a cost effective alternative to the expensive heat treatments now available with a few competitors. We apply a chemical specifically designed for bed bugs, strategically targeting appropriate areas. Depending on its severity, and the level of adherence to our technician’s recommendations, 3-5 visits are typically needed to eradicate a bed bug infestation.

We tailor our solution, and follow-up recommendations, to the customer’s environment, schedule, and convenience limitations. Although it’s important that people and pets be out of the home for at least four hours after each treatment, many times we can eliminate a bed bug problem without disrupting the day to day lives of our customers.
